For a school, summer break is the only stretch of the year when every room can be emptied and left alone long enough for proper floor work. That window goes fast, and floor crews across MetroWest fill their summer calendars in spring.
Start with a walkthrough in April or May. Note which rooms need a full strip, which can get by with a scrub and recoat, and which carpeted rooms need extraction. Cafeterias, main hallways, and entrances are almost always on the full-strip list.
Sequence the work with your custodial and facilities teams. Furniture has to come out before floors can be stripped, and it can't go back until the finish has cured. Planning rooms in blocks keeps furniture from being moved twice.
Leave buffer time at the end of August. Freshly finished floors should be burnished once they've cured, and that final pass is what gives hallways their first-day-of-school shine.
If you manage a school or daycare in Westborough, Shrewsbury, Hopkinton, or nearby, request a walkthrough early and we'll help you build a room-by-room plan for the break.
